ULTRA NORTH is the new ultra-marathon for the North East.

Run, jog or walk along this stunning route exploring some of the North East's industrial heritage, glorious trails and wonderful woodland.

With the choice of the full 55K (approx. 34 miles) Ultra distance or 27.5K (approx. 17 miles), ULTRA NORTH is an ideal event for those looking to take on their first Ultra, challenge walkers looking to discover new local routes or simply someone setting themselves a new challenge.

The course will be fully marked with both distances finishing in Newcastle city centre.

ULTRA NORTH 55 is a full ultra-marathon. Starting on the Scotswood Road made famous in Ridley's 19th Century folk song "Blaydon Races", you'll head west and follow Hadrians Way and the Keelman's Way route to Wylam.

You'll then head out to Chopwell Wood, Derwent Valley and explore Derwenthaugh Park before heading back along the River Tyne, finishing back in the centre of Newcastle on Scotswood Road.

The NORTH 27.5 journey starts on Scotswood Road in Newcastle city centre, and follows the first part of the ULTRA NORTH 55k route along Hadrians Way, and the 6 mile Keelman's Way route following the Tyne through to Wylam.

At this point, you'll then head back along the south side of the River Tyne, toward the city centre finishing back at the start point on Scotswood Road.

Whether you are a first-time ultra-marathoner, an experienced ultra-runner or a walker, ULTRA NORTH is welcoming to and accessible to all.
