Starting & finishing in the amazing Derwenthaugh Park, ULTRA NORTH explores the industrial history of the North East, offering a unique opportunity to explore the blend of urban, railway and woodland trails that the North East has to offer.

 

TRAIL 25 ROUTE

If you’re a walker looking for a challenge TRAIL 25 could be for you! 
From Derwenthaugh Park the route heads northeast to the River Tyne, then back along the Derwent River to the 9 arches viaduct on the Derwent Walk.  Runners then climb up the Valley side, initially heading north, before heading west towards Highfield.  A loop around Rowlands Gill heads back to Derwent Walk then into Derwenthaugh Park and the finish.

ULTRA 55 ROUTE

The ULTRA 55 route travels through Derwenthaugh Park to the River Tyne, then follows the south side of the river through Gateshead crossing the Tyne using the Millenium Bridge. Using Hadrians Way and Wylam Wagon Way to Wylam, the route then crosses the Tyne Valley through Chopwell Woods back into the Derwent Valley, then along the Derwent Walk to reach the finish line.
