From the scenic TRAIL 25 to the epic ULTRA 55, the events are accessible to all, whether you are a  seasoned ultra-runner, a walker seeking a challenge, or a first timer looking to push yourself even further.

ULTRA 55

ULTRA 55 is a full ultra-marathon starting and finishing within Derwenthaugh Park. The route will take competitors on a tour of the region, passing iconic landmarks such as the Tyne Bridge, Millennium Bridge and 9 arches viaduct, and following iconic footpaths including Hadrian’s Way, Wylam’s Wagon Way & Derwent Walk.

TRAIL 25

TRAIL 25 is the perfect challenge for half marathon runners looking to embark on a new off-road challenge.  Starting in Derwenthaugh Park, the route follows the Derwent River to the famous River Tyne, before crossing the iconic 9 arches viaduct and a final stretch on the Derwent Walk before finishing in Derwenthaugh Park.

Whether you are a first-time ultra-marathoner, an experienced ultra-runner, looking for a shorter off road challenge or a walker, ULTRA NORTH is welcoming to and accessible to all.

VOLUNTEERS

If you can't take part, or if you're planning on supporting your friends, why not join us as one of our ULTRA NORTH volunteer team?

As a volunteer you will receive an ULTRA NORTH t-shirt and be part of an amazing team of volunteers who help make the event and experience extra special. You can choose which checkpoint to help out at or select the finish line to be ready to greet our fantastic participants.

SPECTATORS & SUPPORTERS

ULTRA NORTH is a fantastic event, not only for participants but also for spectators and supporters.

​

The route is accessible for support crews at numerous points throughout the TRAIL 25 and ULTRA 55 journey, allowing your supporters to join you at multiple locations.

​

Supporters can also wait at the Event Village at the start/finish location. 
There is seating available and food and drink served in the Clubhouse from 11am.

​

SOME RULES TO OBSERVE...

To ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone taking part in the event, we would like to highlight some important information. â€‹

​​

  • Please remember to be respectful to all other park and footpath users

  • There will be a zero-tolerance policy on littering. We are travelling through some of the North East's finest parks and wilderness areas. Please respect the environment and help keep it looking beautiful and enjoyable for all 

  • You will need to bring your own collapsible cup - we won't be issuing plastic cups or bottles at the Checkpoints

  • Cut-off times will be strictly observed

  • Remember to smile and have fun!
