ULTRA NORTH explores the industrial history of the North East, offering a unique opportunity to explore the blend of urban, railway and woodland trails that the North East has to offer.

Starting and finishing on the Swing Bridge in Newcastle, ULTRA 55 and TRAIL 25 participants will start their tour of the region.

ULTRA 55 participants will travel along the River Tyne until reaching Wylam. Once in Wylam the route crosses the River Tyne and follows back along the river to Derwenthaugh Marina before turning and heading alongside the River Derwent until reaching High Spen where the route then heads into Chopwell Woods taking you through to Lintzford and then dropping into the Derwent Valley and back along the Derwent Walk until meeting the River Tyne again. It then follows the river back to the finish point on the West path of the Swing Bridge, finishing on the Newcastle side.
